Our National Bird is common in Alaska. Females are slightly larger than the males with the same coloration. It takes about 4 or 5 years for a juvenile eagle to acquire its adult plumage with a pure white head and tail. At that time average the wingspan will be about 7 feet. Until then they are brown with various levels of white splotches. Most of my eagle photos were taken on a very shallow river raft ride near Haines, Alaska. The eagles in the rain shots came from Ketchikan. Other eagle shots were taken on the Copper River.
