There are variations on how this area became known as "HELL". The British Commissioner in the 1930s took one look at the area and stated, "This must be what hell looks like."
It is also said that the name was derived from the echoing sound a pebble makeswhen thrown out into the formation. Like the pebble was falling into hell.
